Advice for eLearning in Maths

It's essential that you continue making progress while you're working from home.

  1. Study Maths for 4 hours a week. We recommend following your usual Academy timetable, but you're welcome to adapt it if you wish. We're setting 4 separate lessons for you every week.

  2. Prepare your environment. Work at a desk or table. You will need a pen, paper, ruler, calculator, and computer (or other device).

  3. Take notes. We will often provide slides for you to read, or videos to watch. As you work through these, make notes on paper just like you would in class.

  4. Practice. Complete the worksheets and practice tasks to the best of your ability. You might not be able to print the worksheets, so write your answers on paper. If answers are provided, resist the temptation to copy them, but do check your work when you've finished. You may not need to complete all of the questions provided as there will be a lot available should you need it, but you should be aiming for at least half of each worksheet.

  5. Submit your weekly MathsWatch task. As part of the fourth lesson each week, we will ask you to complete some questions on MathsWatch, these will cover all of the week's work plus some questions from the previous work too. We'll be keeping track of your progress in these tasks.

  6. Stay organised. Present your work neatly, and keep your notes together in a folder or binder. You could also use an exercise book.

Resources

Many of the slides, videos, and worksheets we're using have been sourced from websites such as PixiMaths, Dr Frost Maths, Mr Barton Maths, and CorbettMaths.

If you are struggling on a topic, you can often find useful further information on these websites, and also on MathsWatch.

Contacting your teachers

You are welcome to get in contact with your teaching staff by email if you have any questions or don't understand the work. We can also help if you've forgotten your MathsWatch password.

There is no need to send us your work, because we will track your progress on MathsWatch every week.
