Week 8

This week you are to create a repeat pattern inspired by sweets, biscuits and cakes. Please watch the loom video above for detailed instructions.

Week 7 -

This week you are to create an artist research page on the textile artist Holly Levell. Please watch the loom video above and ensure you include the following:

1- Title ' Holly Levell'

2- A brief sentence about what she does.

3 - Your opinions of her work

4- Images of her work. (If you cannot print these leave a space for them to go on

5 -The page should be filled up and decorative

Extra challenge : You could have a go at drawing on of her works.

Week 5 and 6 task:

From the feedback I have received over the last week from you all, I am going to give you another week to complete the colour on your drawings. If you have finished this, there is an extension task below.


Task 1: You are to complete adding colour to the drawing you created from your collage. This should be done as accurately as possible showing shade and tone. You can do this in either pencil crayon on paints. Please watch the video above for more details on how to do this.

Extension task:

You are to create a mood board of images relating to 'sweets biscuits and cakes'. This can be done digitally or manually. If you do decide to do it digitally, we can print these out when we return to the Academy.

Week 4 task:

This week you are to create an accurate drawing of your sweet wrapper collage, focusing on size and scale. This should be done in pencil.

You are to make sure that:

  • The whole page is covered.

  • You are really looking at your collage and drawing exactly what you see and not from memory.

  • Things are in the right place and the right size.

  • Try the 'grid method' shown in the video.

Please do the outlines only as you will be adding colour to this next week.














Week 3 task:

This week you are to collect wrappers from sweets, biscuits and cakes and create a collage using these.

-You need to make sure you fill up the whole page.

-You are to stick these down well.

- You are to include a variety of sizes, shapes and colours.

Please remember to email me photographs of your work by Friday 4pm.


Week 2 tasks -

You are to create a page of research on the fashion designer 'Moschino' with particular focus on their work inspired by sweets, biscuits and cakes.

You must include:

  • A title

  • A sentence about the artist

  • Your opinions

  • Images of their work


Welcome to GCSE Textile Design

Welcome to the GCSE Textile design course. Throughout this course we will be producing work both 2D and 3D in response to textile designers responding to different themes. We will be exploring different materials and techniques throughout the course, learning new and exciting ways of working.

The attached power point will talk you through the course and its expectations and provide you with details about the tasks you are going to be starting.

All work from now will count towards our final GCSE grade so it is crucial that you put in your best effort at all times, and complete all homework set to a good standard.

The theme of our GCSE coursework which is (60% of your final grade ) is 'Sweets, biscuits and cakes'. We will now be producing a project responding to this theme, looking at designers and exploring a variety of techniques and processes. Please look at the video above and complete the task required.

Each week you are required to email me evidence of your work by Friday at 4pm. This can simply be a photograph of your work that you upload, or you my wish to scan in your work if you have a scanner. If this is an issue please let me know.
