Producing a good quality photographer research/ analysis page

  • Produce a detailed research/ analysis page on the photographer Graham Owen. This should include:

    • Images of his work.

    • A few interesting facts written in your own words.

    • Your own detailed opinion/ description of his work.

    • Take photos in his style where the main subject is in focus and the background is blurred.

    • Produce a comparison page between one or two of your own photos and one or two of his.

    • Keep taking lots and lots of Natural Structures photos over the summer!

Tasks from previous weeks

Taking Photos for Your First Coursework Project: Natural Structures

  • For the Photography quiz, answer questions 1-3 by choosing photo A or photo B as the more successful photo and then write a few key words as to why that is the better photo.

  • Take at least 50 good quality photos (referring to the PowerPoint slides for advice on this) for the theme of your first project: Natural Structures. This could include photos of:

    • Flowers

    • Leaves

    • Landscapes

    • Trees

    • Shells

    • Fruit

    • Animal

Taking Photos Using The Rule of Thirds and Producing Research About This Technique

  • Produce a research page on ‘The Rule of Thirds’ in photography. This should include information written in your own words and images and can be completed in PowerPoint or Word. You could also include some of your own photos as examples.

  • Take at least 20 photos of natural structures using The Rule of Thirds in them.

  • Also, continue to take further photos of natural structures.

Email me your 5 most successful photographs using The Rule of Thirds and your research page by 4pm on Friday

Producing a good quality photographer research/ analysis page

  • Produce a detailed research/ analysis page on the photographer Patty Hankins. This should include:

    • Images of her work.

    • A few interesting facts written in your own words.

    • Your own detailed opinion/ description of her work.

Producing a good quality photographer comparison page

  • Take photos of flowers in the style of Patty Hankins.

  • Produce a comparison page comparing one of Patty Hankins' photos with one of your own. This should include:

    • Your understanding of how you conducted your photo shoot in her style.

    • Similarities between your photo and hers.

    • Differences between your photo and hers.

Email me your comparison page and a few of your flower photos by 4pm on Friday

Conducting a still life photo shoot

  • Watch the video which introduces the idea of still life photography.

  • Browse the internet in order to look at further examples of still life photography and further examples of Claude Monet's still life paintings.

  • Conduct a still life natural forms photo shoot using Claude Monet's still life paintings as inspiration. This could include fruit and/or flowers. Consider arrangement, composition and lighting.

Email me at least 5 of your best photos from this shoot by 4pm on Friday

  • Produce a detailed research/ analysis page on the artist Claude Monet, particularly focusing on his still life paintings. This should include:

    • Images of his work.

    • A few interesting facts written in your own words.

    • Your own detailed opinion/ description of his still life paintings.

Email me your research page by 4pm on Friday

Producing written work that show your understanding of your still-life-photo shoot.

  • Produce a detailed write-up page on your still-life photo shoot. This should include:

    • Some of your best photos from that shoot.

    • Your own detailed opinion (see video for examples of what you could write about).

    • Links/ comparisons between your photos and Claude Monet's still-life paintings.
