This week's learning is on manufacturing and production processes:

Task 1:

  • Watch these three video clips.

  • You should explain computer intergrated manufacturing, batch production and remote manufacturing in full sentences.

  • Highlight some 6 tier words in your explanation.

Task 2:

Answer the following questions:

  • What is computer integrated manufacture?

  • Can you justify why these processes reduce wastage in a maufacturing environment.

  • What are the advantages of remote manufacturing?

  • What is batch production? Give three examples of products made with the use of batch production.

  • What are the advantages of Batch production?

Task 3:

Can you state three things that you have learnt today.

This week's learning is product lifecycle and inclusive design:

  • Watch these two video clips.

  • Summarise the key information within 200 words.

  • You should explain product life cycle and inclusive design in full sentences.

  • Highlight some 3 tier words in your explanation.

Your next task is to answer the following questions:

  • What are the benefits of a product lifecycle?

  • What impact does product lifecycle have on the environment?

  • What is inclusive design? Give examples in your explanation.

  • Why is inclusive design so important in the design world?

  • Why is anthropometrics and ergonomics an important factor in inclusive design?

For your final task you need to state three things that you have learnt today.

29th June - Video seminar

Learning intentions

  • To be able to practice drawing in orthographic projection.

  • To be able to apply this skill in drawing a gadget for a teenager of any gender.

Total study time this week: 2 hours

Task 1

This home learning task is practising/drawing in orthographic projection.

Watch this video clip and follow the steps, practice drawing in orthographic projection. You will need an A4 piece of paper, a pencil and a ruler.

Task 2

Using the skill that you learnt in task 1 you are required to draw a gadget of your choice, for a teenager of any gender.

Task 3

Describe the steps in drawing in orthographic projection. Your description should include at least 30 words and use complete sentences.
