Read this information carefully on ownership from the chapter on BBC Bitesize and review your own notes. Using your knowledge on ownership, please answer the case study questions about ‘Honest Burgers’ on slide 3 in full sentences.

Read this information carefully on location from the chapter on BBC Bitesize review your own notes. Using your knowledge on location, please complete the case study question about Shanghai Disney on slide 4 in full sentences.

Business Expansion - Part 2

Task 1

Watch the YouTube clip carefully. Create a table or set of bullet points showing the all of the key terms and their meaning.

Task 2

Using the information on slides 4 and 5, create a poster showing the differences between internal and external growth. Please make sure you include the different methods of internal growth, external growth and supporting examples.

Watch this YouTube clip if you are unsure about the different types of external growth – the clip gives lots of very good examples.

Task 3

Going for Gold Plc case study – please read the case study carefully on slide 6 and using the case study answer the two questions in full sentences.

  • Examine why businesses want to expand.

  • Analyse the advantages and disadvantages of expansion - economies and diseconomies of scale.

Business Expansion - Part 1

Task 1

Read the information and watch the short video carefully from the BBC Bitesize website. Using the information, create 10 bullet points of at least 20 words explaining the advantages and disadvantages of a business growing. You should focus on how businesses may grow, where they might find the money to grow and what they should be looking out for as some potential dangers.

Task 2

Using the information on slide 4, explain what economies and diseconomies of scale are and why they are an important element of growth that businesses need to consider. You can present this information as a mind map or as bullet points but I would like at least 7 points/legs of at least 10 words please.

Task 3

Read the Nocturn Dairies case study carefully, using your prior learning and the case study, answer the 3 questions. Questions 1 and 2 can be answered in bullet points – 3 bullet points for each question. Question 3 must be answered in full sentences please. Use your knowledge of stakeholder, location and economies of scale to help you answer the questions.

  • Identify the factors that influence the location of a business.

  • Analyse why the right choice of location is important to businesses.

Total study time this week: 3 hours

Task 1

Watch this YouTube video, it shows a lesson about location. I would like you to watch the lesson and write down 10 bullet points of at least 20 words each to show what you now know about the factors impacting location. Ignore any instructions about quizzes or additional tasks – I just want you to use the information to help you with the bullet points please.

Task 2

Using what you have learnt in the YouTube video, look at each of the options on slide 4 and decide what the main factor was that influenced the choice of location. Please write a full sentence for each business. I have completed an example to help you.

Task 3

Read the information carefully on slide 5. Using the information in the boxes decide whether side A or B should be chosen by the management of the concrete firm. Write a short report (approximately 200 words) to the management with your recommendation, use the information from the slide and your prior learning to help you justify your answer.
