Lesson title: Travel and tourism grammar practice and assessment

You will need to access Kerboodle French foundation digital textbook pages 134 and 135.

We reached the end of this unit. Now we are going to practice all the grammar points we covered and complete the end of unit assessment.

Complete all the tasks outlined below.

You must go to Google classroom and complete the worksheets.

Task 1: Do now: Page 135. Make the sentences negative and translate them into English (10 minutes).

Task 2: Complete the sentences with the correct perfect tense-verb form from the box. 10 minutes

Task 3: Put the verbs in brackets into the correct form of the present tense with depuis. 10 minutes

Task 4: Translate them into English. 10 minutes

Task 5: Page 135: The pronoun Y: Translate the sentences into English. 10 minutes

Task 6: Complete the sentences with the correct imperfect tense verb from the box. 15 minutes

Last week, we started to talk about holidays focusing on your holiday preferences.

This week we are going to carry on talking about holidays but looking at what you do while on holiday.

Complete all the tasks outlined below.

Once you finish the work in the Power Point, you must go to Google classroom and complete the worksheets on grammar and on the strategies.

Task 1: Do now: Sort these words and phrases into three groups: sporting facilities, accommodation, holiday activities. (10 minutes).

Task 2: Listen to Elise describing her visit to Reims. In what order does she mention the activities in the pictures? Write the letters in the correct order. (10 minutes).

Task 3: Find the past participles of these verbs. (10 minutes).

Task 4: Change the sentences to the past tense (10 minutes).

Task 5: Fill in the gaps using the passé composé (10 minutes).

Task 6: Quick Quiz (5 minutes).

Task 7: Progress check: Complete the attached worksheet: (10 minutes).

Task 8: Reading: Expressing opinions using intensifiers (5 minutes).

Task 9: Progress check: Complete the sentences using any appropriate intensifier. (10 minutes).

Task 10: Speaking: Work with a real or imaginary partner, take turns to ask and answer the questions about whether you like the following activities. Use intensifiers in every answer. (10 minutes).

Task 11: Révision de la grammaire. (5 minutes)

Task 13: Writing: (20 minutes).Write a paragraph about an excursion to Paris(real or imaginary). Say when you went, who you went with and what you did. Give opinions wherever possible. Use the sentence starter in the box.

Complete all the tasks outlined below.

Once you finish the work in the Power Point, you must go to Google classroom and complete your assessment which is about Global issues.

Task 1: : Reliez (match up the picture to the correct mode of transport and label) 10 minutes

Task 2: Trouvez l’anglais pour ces adjectives dans le dictionnaire et reliez avec un moyen de transport (find the English for these adjectives in the dictionary and match to a mode of transport) 10 minutes

Task 3: Traduisez les phrases en anglais, et puis en français. Translate the sentences into French or English. 15 minutes

Task 4: Cherche dans le dictionnaire. Find the meanings of the words. 10 minutes

Task 5: Faites des phrases en utilisant la grille (make 5 sentences using the grid) 10 minutes

Task 6: Complete the table with the activities. 10 minutes

Task 7: Write a short paragraph (50 words) about what activities you normally do on holiday – you can make it up!

Task 8: Read the paragraphs and say who said what. Write the name of the right person next to the activity. 20 minutes

Task 9: Trouve les expressions dans le texte. Find the expressions in the texts you just used. 10 minutes.

Listening Page 126 (10 minutes): Listen to Marc talking about where he lives. Decide whether the statements are true (T) or false(F).

Speaking: Ask yourself the questions using “Est-ce qu’il y a……? Then answer them about amenities in Villeneuve. Is there……(10 minutes).

Reading: (10 minutes): Read how the following people prefer to travel. Choose the correct statement for each picture.

Grammaire: 10 minutes: Read the grammar box and answer the questions below:

  • What is “in” for feminine countries?

  • What is “in” for masculine countries?

  • What is “in” for plural countries?

Progress check: Complete the task given.Here you must choose the correct preposition for each sentence. (10 minutes)

Read the strategie box and answer the questions below (5 minutes):

  • When using the negative with plural nouns, what do you use before the plural nouns.

  • How do you translate the “neither…….nor” in French?

Reading 2(10 minutes): Read what Sophie says about her town. List the places she mentions under four headings.

Writing: (20 minutes): write a description about your town/ village, using the text in activity 6 as a model. Describe:

  • What is there to see and do

  • What there is not in your town/ village

  • What modes of transport you can use there

You could also use my "I do" to help yourself but as usual, your "you do" must be better than mine.

Do now: This is an opportunity to recall what you learnt last week. In here, you need to put the verbs into the vous form of the imperative. (10 minutes)

Reading: Read the article and find the French equivalent for the English expressions. (20 minutes).

Read the same text one more time and decide if the statements are true (T), false(F) or not mentioned (NM). (10 minutes).

Listening: (15 minutes): Listen to Luc and Aline talking about social issues. Choose the correct answer to complete each sentence.

Listen again! Who says what? Choose Aline or Luc. (10 minutes).

Grammaire: Read the grammar box and answer the following questions (10 minutes):

1- How to you say “ I can” in French?

2- How will any verb following pouvoir be?

Progress check (10 minutes). Put the verbs in brackets into the correct form of pouvoir.

Then rewrite the sentences using" il est possible de...."

Read the stratégie box and answer the questions below 10 minutes:

1- Give 2 examples of expressions you could use to agree

2- Give 2 examples of expressions you could use to disagree

Progress check (10 minutes): Match the French expressions with their English translations.

Speaking 10 minutes: Discuss these opinions with a real or imaginary partner

Writing 20 minutes: Écris un article sur les problèmes des SDF dans ta région et propose des solutions. Use the helpbox and my “I do” if necessary. As usual, your "you do" must be better than mine.

Previous week work:

  • 1- Do now: This is an opportunity to recall what you learnt last week. In here, you need to fill in the gaps with the right part of the verb given to you in brackets. (10 minutes).

    • 1A- Read the article and choose the correct heading (1-5) for each paragraph (A-E). How to do this? To complete this task, you will need to get yourself an online dictionary. Just google it and you will find load but here is an example: https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english-french Read the text and write down 10 new words; then find them in the dictionary and write down their meanings. (10 minutes).

    • 1B- Read the article again and find the French equivalent for the 10 English expressions given to you at the bottom of the text. (10 minutes).

  • 2- Listening: Listen to four people talking about four environmental issues.

    • Choose the solution for each problem and write the correct letter (A-D).

    • How to do this? I suggest that you listen to the whole recording once for each problem. In your book, you write the numbers down 1 to 4. Then you listen to the whole recording to find out which person’s problem matches solution A.

    • Then you listen again for solution B and so on. Remember that in the recording, they will be suing cognates and synonyms. So do not expect to hear the same words as in the solution all the time. (10 minutes).

    • O1: TBAT make use of cultural context when listening

    • In your book list three things you think might be different between Senegal and France. (20 minutes).

  • 3- Progress check: Listen to Amadou talking about environmental issues in Louga (Senegal). Write down the numbers for the correct sentences. (10 minutes).

    • Grammar for O2: TBAT si + present tense

    • Read the grammar box from the Power Point and on page 117 and answer the questions below:

    • Why do you have to use si +present tense in your work? (5 minutes)

  • 4- Put the verbs in brackets into the correct form of the present tense. Then translate the sentences into English.

  • 5- Speaking: Work with a real or imaginary partner, take turns to complete the sentences. You might record yourself and send it to me. (10 minutes).

  • 6- Writing: Write a message for a forum about the environment. Include three environmental issues that worry you, at least three solutions to the problems and what can happen if these solutions are put into action. (20 minutes).
