Wellbeing

Your wellbeing is super important! It's vital that you take care of yourself and others, exercise regularly, eat well, stay well hydrated, and consider your mental health.

Remember that your mental health is just as important as your physical health, and in the current climate it's especially important. If you are worried about your mental health or that of another student from the Academy, then there's always the Academy's BeBrave service that lets you discuss this with someone who might be able to reassure or guide you. Send an email to BeBrave@q3academy.org.uk

If you have a serious concern that needs immediate action then always tell an adult, and call 999 in an emergency.

Feeling pressured?

Sharing photos and videos online can be a great way to express yourself. Lots of people like to share selfies with friends - to show them what they’re up to, express how they feel, or just to have a laugh.

Some young people post naked or semi-naked (nude) images of themselves too. This might be because:

  • They want to send one to a boyfriend/girlfriend;

  • They feel like they should send one to a boyfriend/girlfriend;

  • They want to flirt with someone they like;

  • They want to make their friends laugh;

  • They are being pressured to send one by someone else.

Whatever the reason, there are always risks involved in sharing naked pictures, particularly if someone isn’t sending it because they want to. Once an image has been shared, there’s a chance that it could be shared with more people.

If you have already shared something you’re worried about, it’s never too late to get help. Click here for more information and support.

Reading for Pleasure

Reading for pleasure is really great for your mental health and can be relaxing.

A member of staff from a primary school in the Yorkshire Dales has written a really lovely book dedicated to his class which we've put on here for you to read and access for free.

The author, Mike Forde, is asking for donations to support the NHS, if you wish to donate then you can do so on his fundraising page here.

Kooth is another great service that you might want to check out if you feel you'd like a bit of guidance or advice - www.kooth.com

Planning your schedule

It's important that you plan your day out well to get the most from your eLearning. Here are some suggestions for how you might want to do this, obviously tailor them so they fit what works for you.

Years 7 and 8

Year 9

Years 10 and 12

We recommend aiming to follow your normal Academy timetable, but adapt the timings to suit your family schedule. Study the subjects that are on your timetable every day, and be sure to contact your Learning Consultants if you have any queries.

Remember that your exams will go ahead as normal next year, so your ongoing work from home is crucial.

Years 11 and 13

Following the Government's announcement of the cancellation of exams, your priorities are:

  1. Make plans for next year. Make sure you have applied for Sixth Form, college, an apprenticeship, or university to start in September. If you need support with this, please email careers@q3academy.org.uk.

  2. Continue studying. Keep up your subject knowledge, because you will need it for your chosen courses next year. If you choose to re-sit your GCSEs or A-Levels in the autumn, you will also need the knowledge to be fresh in your mind.
